Calhoun Campground
Welcome to Calhoun Campground, a great place for families to enjoy fishing, boating, trail hiking, or just relaxing by a bonfire. This 40-acre campground in the woods is nestled along the bountiful backwaters of Ross Lake, at the mouth of the South Branch of the Tobacco River. Offering the camper all modern facilities including electricity, hot showers, sanitation station, handicap accessible fishing and boating dock, playground, picnic pavilion, and much more.

Registration and Arrival
Check-In Procedure
- Remember to stop at the office to register and grab your car tag.
- While each park attempts to accommodate your exact spot request, the on-site manager has the ultimate decision for spot placement.
Motor Vehicles
- No person shall operate a motor vehicle except on roads and parking lots constructed for the operation of licensed vehicles.
- Unlicensed vehicles are prohibited.
- Golf carts of registered campers may be used in the campground.
Conduct
- No person shall engage in any violent, abusive, loud, boisterous, profane, obscene, or otherwise disorderly conduct, or disturb or annoy others.
- This behavior will result in immediate removal from the campground with no refund.
Fireworks and Explosives
- No person shall fire, discharge, or have in his/her possession any firecracker, rocket, sparkler, or other fireworks or any substance of an explosive or dangerous nature in Calhoun Park.
Firearms and Weapons
- No person shall, at any time, bring into or upon Calhoun Park, nor have in their possession, nor discharge or set off anywhere upon said property, a revolver, pistol, shotgun, rifle, air rifle, air gun, or any gun, rifle, firearm or other weapon that discharges projectiles either by air, explosive substance or any other force, except in compliance with the laws of the State of Michigan and rules and regulations of the Department of Natural Resources, and only in areas designated for such purposes.
- This section shall not apply to any duly appointed law enforcement officer carrying out the duties and responsibilities of their position, nor to any person holding a valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License.
Littering and Waste
- No person shall dump, place, throw, or leave litter on the grounds or waters, except in containers provided.
- No person may possess glass containers on or in the river.
- Please do not put trash in the firepits (example: plastic bottles, beer caps, tin cans, etc)
Pets
- All pets must be kept under immediate control on a leash not exceeding 6 feet in length in the campground.
- Campers shall clean up after their pets.
- Pets shall be secured in an enclosed vehicle or tent at night.
- Excessive noise or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Violation may result in removal from the campground with no refund.
Natural Resources
- No person shall destroy, damage, affix using tools, or remove city property, trees, shrubs, wildflowers, grasses, or vegetation in Calhoun Campground.
- Campsite trees or shrubs may be used to temporarily hang items such as hammocks, shade sails, or laundry lines, but only with the permission of the Park Staff.
Campfires
- All campfires must be kept in designated fire pits provided or grills approved by Park Staff, and may not be left unattended.
- Burning trash and large fires are strictly prohibited.
- Fires should be completely extinguished before leaving.
Dishwashing
- No washing of dishes in the bathrooms or near drinking water areas.
- The Michigan State Department of Health prohibits this.
Campsite Occupancy
- Each campsite may be used by only one family or not more than four unrelated persons.
- Campers must be at least 18 years old to register or occupy a campsite unless part of a chaperoned group (i.e., scouts, cyclists, etc.).
- All visitors must leave the campground by 10:00 pm.
Quiet Hours
- Quiet time shall be between the hours of 10:00 pm and 8:00 am.
Speed Limit
- 5 miles per hour while on the property.
Prohibited
- No smoking in the bathhouse
- Do not move the fire pits.
Visitor Policy
- We ask that visitors leave the park by 11 pm.
Rule Violations
- Violation of these rules, at the discretion of Park staff, may be grounds for removal from the campground without a refund.
- Violation of any Beaverton City Park ordinance (Title III Parks and Public Grounds, Chapter 31, Parks-General Regulations) shall be grounds for removal from the campground without a refund.

Cancellation Policy
MODERATE
If the guest cancels at least 1 week before your check-in day and time, they will receive a full refund (minus Spot2Nite convenience or resort fees). If the guest cancels within the 1 week before check-in, there will be no refund.
